Core Curriculum Review for Oncology Nursing Practice and the Certification ExaminationCourse OverviewOncology nursing certification is the formal recognition of specialized knowledge, skills, and experience in oncology nursing. It is demonstrated by achieving standards identified by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC®) to promote health outcomes. Certification assures the public a nurse has completed all eligibility criteria to earn this credential. It also promotes the development of oncology specialized nursing by establishing minimum competency standards and recognizing those who have met the standards. The content for this two day course is divided into sections that are consistent with the major categories for the Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) Test Blueprint and the Core Curriculum for Oncology Nursing (Fourth Edition). Target AudienceThis course provides an overview to prepare nurses for the OCN® exam. Attendance at this course does not guarantee successful completion of the OCN® exam; however, strategies to enhance successful test taking are discussed. Program OverviewMajor subject areas include:
Course FacultyFaculty for this program includes expert oncology nurses who are certified at both the basic and advanced levels through ONCC®. Additionally, interdisciplinary members of the faculty provide for a complete, well-rounded curriculum consistent with the goal of improving patient outcomes. Continuing Nursing Education CreditThis activity has been submitted to the Oncology Nursing Society for approval to award contact hours. ONS is accredited as an approver of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's COA. Application has been submitted for 14.75 contact hours. Special NoteThe contact hours of continuing education from this course may be applied toward the eligibility criteria for initial OCN® Certification. The OCN® TestONCC examinations are administered by computer-based testing Pearson VUE (PVAmericasCustomerService@pearson.com). Registration for this two-day course does not constitute registration for the certification exam. FeeTwo-day course is $250. This includes a Continental breakfast, lunch, all course materials/handouts, and Continuing Nursing Education Credits.
